The U.S. Military provides what can only be described as extraordinary care to our wounded military personnel. No expense is spared to treat a wounded serviceman or women. Soldiers' Angels has, however, put together a backpack which can be given to each wounded soldier as they arrive at the combat support hospitals in Iraq and Afghanistan. When our wounded arrive at these hospitals they often have only what they were wearing in the battlefield and considering they were injured, it usually is not in very good condition. It can take up to a couple of days before they receive replacement supplies and it is often weeks before their belongings catch up to them. The military does all it can to provide for our wounded heroes and more than meets his or hers basic needs. These backpacks, however, ensure that our wounded soldiers have a little love from home to comfort them until their family can reach them and/or they return to the states. A wounded soldier certainly can wear a hospital gown for the first 24 hours before his replacement clothing is issued, but having a quick change of clothing is priceless. Your donation will send a backpack directly to a wounded hero in urgent need.

Hello my name is SPC Jonathan .... I was injured when my truck was blown up 5FEB07. I was the gunner on the HUMMWV. My two friends, the driver and TC were also injured. I was fortunate enough to not sustain any major injuries. While at the hospital in central Baghdad I received a backpack with some items in it and your e-mail addresses. I greatly appriciate everything you have done for the soldiers here. It is comforting to know that people back home still care about what we are doing here. Thanks again. Jonathan ......

Hi, I was recently wounded in combat in Iraq..It was a pretty good hit and when I was medevac'd obviously I didnt get to grab some important items:) I woke up the next day and had nothing to wear or any hygiene stuff..my uniform I had on was bloodsoaked and unwearable..This very sweet nurse (in the pic) brought me a backpack full of goodies from you folks and there was even pajamas:) the hospital robes didnt fit me and I just managed to squeeze your clothes on:) I felt alot better with a shower and some pants on...all with your gift. I ended up having to go to a few more hospitals by helocoptor to get some specialist work done as some of the wounds were deep..I took the bag with me everywhere it was all I had..It was the best thing that could  have happened at that time..I just wanted to say thank you for all you nice people do...Here is a pic when I was released...my nurse, my friend on the left and thats me with the new "facejob"..thanks again, Sgt. Cary -----

Backpacks December 29, 2008
Reviewer: Anonymous person

Dear Soldiers Angel's:

My name is SGT(P) Marion. I am one of 2 Senior Medics with 3rd BSTB from Fort Drum, NY. We just arrived in Afghanistan and are in the process of setting up our Battalion Aid Station. From the last group that was here, they gave us and estimate on how many trauma and injured Soldiers we were likely to see.

I was wondering if it would be possible to get some Wounded Warrior Backpacks sent here so we may distribute them out to Soldiers that arrive to us in MEDEVAC or CASEVAC and will require to stay at our FOB for a period of time and won't have any items.

If you need to know where I got your information, my husband, SPC Timothy Plaisted of 543rd MP Company was wounded in Iraq last year. He received a blanket and a backpack from your organization and it made him feel so warm inside. We still have his blanket to this day in our living room. He sleeps with it often on the couch and I must say that it is quite warm too! It is wonderful to see the effort and support that you all have provided these Wounded Warriors.

Thank You again!

SGT(P) Amanda Helena Elizabeth Marion-Plaisted

Wonderful Backpack September 15, 2006
Reviewer: Jennifer Prasenski from Brooklyn, NY United States
When my husband was wounded in Iraq he received a backpack from Soldiers' Angels.  He told me he was shocked and excited because he had absolutely nothing with him except the clothes on his back which they cut off.  It had everything in there that he needed.  It is such a wonderful thought and idea that I didn't even know existed until he told me about it.  After hearing that my husband's family and myself have donated one.  I would just like to say thank you.
